Timothy Boyer grew up in a small town in southern Minnesota, son of a Lutheran Minister. He quit high school at the age of 17. He went on to complete various educational programs including a Bachelor of Science in English Education; a Master of Arts in Religious Studies from Luther Northwestern Seminary; and a Doctoral degree from the University of Minnesota, Educational Policy and Administration, Supporting Area in Vocational Rehabilitation Counseling.
His professional employment consists of self-employed writing and twenty two years with Minnesota State Colleges and Universities (MNSCU), including Dakota County Technical College, Inver Hills Community College, and Bemidji State University
