About The Author
Cornelia Crawford DeBerry
Cornelia, known affectionately as “Cea,” is happily retired, living in the Pacific Northwest with her husband, adult children, and three grandchildren. Army Captain James DeBerry completes her blended family with his two adult sons, is recently retired, also enjoys writing, and is a published author.
Having endured academic life at Spelman College, Pepperdine University, and Azusa Pacific University, Cea maintains that her real education resulted in raising three children alone and navigating life as a single parent until she met the love of her life.
When the eyes speak
We are honored to present When the Eyes Speak by Cornelia Crawford DeBerry—a powerful collection of poems that offers both depth and tenderness. With unflinching honesty and lyrical grace, DeBerry invites readers into a space where silence holds meaning, and the eyes become vessels of memory, emotion, and truth.
Her poems are raw, honest, and filled with love—for her loved ones and the world around her. Shaped by experiences of love, loss, beauty, and resilience, they echo the universal rhythms of joy and sorrow, success and failure—woven into a tapestry of reflection and soul. When the Eyes Speak is not only a poetic offering, but a mirror through which we are reminded of our shared humanity and the enduring question of why we are here.
